Working with Ambivalence in EFT Couples Therapy

Join Kathryn Rheem, EFT Trainer Emeritus & Jennifer Olden, EFT Supervisor for this live conversation on how EFT therapists can navigate ambivalence and burnout when couples are unsure whether their relationship will continue.

✨ REGISTER + SEND US YOUR QUESTION
We will be sharing insights from decades of EFT practice, exploring how therapists can stay grounded and effective when working with couples facing deep relational ambivalence.

Together, we will explore questions like:

  • When and how do you begin to address the attachment injuries or bruises driving the burnout?
  • How do we cope with our own discouragement when one partner is hesitant to be vulnerable again?
  • How do we intervene when hope is uneven between partners?
  • How do we stay with the process with the therapeutic goals are uncertain?
  • What does EFT look like when the relationship may or may not survive?
  • Is there a way to tell in the early sessions whether the burnout is secondary or primary?
  • When do you decide to end the therapy?

🗓️ March 25, 2026  ⏰ 9Am Pt / 12pm ET

We invite you to submit your questions in advance.

Any questions related to ambivalence, burnout, relational exhaustion, or the complex clinical issues that arise when partners are unsure about continuing the relationship. We'll do our best to cover as many as possible.
